Two research questions and a null hypothesis guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population was 1,462 business education students who have undertaken entrepreneurship education as a course. Using Proportional and simple random sampling techniques, a sample of 500 was drawn from the entire population and used for the study. A structured questionnaire was used to gather data. The instrument was validated by three experts. The reliability test yielded a coefficient of 0.78. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer research questions while t-test was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that business education students lowly acquired innovative skills, creative skills, technical skills and technological pedagogy skills amongst others. While human resource management skills and e-marketing skills we moderately acquired. Gender did not significantly influence the ratings of the respondents. Based on the findings, it was concluded that entrepreneurial skills acquisition by business education students for self-reliance is still an illusion. The researchers recommended that government through Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund), should provide the platform and technological infrastructures adequate for the students to acquire skills that will help them to be self-reliant, perform maximally in the world of work, as well as create jobs in a complicated era of covid-19.
